Adult Education

We have several opportunities for Adult education and growth at St. John's.

Adult Education Forum:

During the time between the 8:00 and 10:00 services (9:00 to about 9:50), we meet in the parish hall to discuss topics important to the life of the church as well as our personal and spiritual well being.  The topics are numerous and varied.  Please join us during this time for coffee and treats, along with relaxing and sometimes spirited discussion:

Wednesday Bible Study

A group of dedicated individuals meets every Wednesday for bible study.  This group uses various texts to look more in depth at aspects of the bible affecting our current lives. We meet from about 10:30am until the Noon Eucharist.

Education for Ministry (EFM):

EFM is a four year program that is intended to give the student an in-depth look at the bible and Christian history, as well as insight to what this means for our personal place in the life and ministry of the church.  The course runs from September through May.  The curriculum is composed of four, one year sections:

  1. Year 1: Old Testament
  2. Year 2: New Testament
  3. Year 3: Church History, the first 1800 Years
  4. Year 4: Church History, the last 200 years

There is a cost for this program, though scholarships are available.  Continuing education credits are earned from the Sewanee University of the South.  Gloria Starns and Bruce Bjorklund, coordinators.

Responding to the world's main development challenges and to the calls of civil society, the MDGs promote poverty reduction, education, maternal health, gender equality, and aim at combating child mortality, AIDS and other diseases.
