Diocesan Events

The Episcopal Diocese of Iowa sponsors many parish involvement programs, and particularly focuses on bringing young people from the Diocese together for many different activities.  Below are some of these opportunities to get involved at the Diocesan level.  Please speak with Diane Bjorklund if you are interested in taking part in these programs.

Happenings

Happening is for high schoolers and led by high schoolers with the help of lay adults and clergy. At Happening, youth will participate in small group discussions, larger group presentations and games, laugh, listen to talks given by their peers, sing contemporary and folk music, and enjoy a number of original activities. Although sponsored by the Episcopal Church, the weekend in focused on a Christian Life and students from all denominations are welcome. Please invite students you might know to participate.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings is a youth-led retreat weekend for 7th - 9th graders which encourages youth to ask questions about their relationships with themselves, their friends, their families, and God. One youth leader from New Beginnings said "I feel that God has called me to share my faith with others and make new relationships as I continue to grow in my faith. " (from Episcopal Diocese of Iowa website).

Annual Ski Trip

For youth in 6th-12th grade and adult chaperones.  Don't miss it.  Watch Diocesan Youth Page for more details or contact Diane Bjorklund with questions.

Pine Ridge Summer School

The Pine Ridge Agency is home to the Oglala Sioux Nations and is located in South Dakota.   Episcopalians from across Iowa work together to run an annual summer school for children at Pine Ridge - providing meals, games, supplies and fellowship.

Summer Camp - 2012

In 2011, the Episcopal Diocese of Iowa sponsored  a summer church camp for upper elementary, middle and high school students at Pictured Rocks Camp and Retreat Center in Monticello, Iowa in late July.  Stay tuned for dates and details for the 2012 camp.
