Getting Involved

Preach the gospel at all times and when necessary, use words (St. Francis of Assisi)

St. John's congregation is active locally, nationally and internationally as servants and leaders in ministry inside and outside Christ's Church.

Do you enjoy teaching children? Lead a Godly Play class. Or volunteer to work with our youth as a chaperone or a Journey 2 Adulthood leader. How about working in the kitchen? Volunteer to host coffee hour or at other special events. Participate in worship services as a Lay Reader or Chalicer, greet and serve as an usher. Serve with the Altar Guild.

Would you like to broaden your horizons and make an impact on the local community? Join other parishioners who regularly invest their time to serve those in need in Ames or outreach to those in physical and emotional need.

Consider becoming involved in one or many of these service or outreach projects - your contributions are needed and welcomed.  God doesn't call those who are able, he calls those that are willing and gives them the ability.  Each fall, St. John's hosts an Annual Ministry fair in the parish hall on Sunday morning to give parishioners and newcomers alike an opportunity to become familiar with the myriad opportunities available to be of service in our parish and our extended community.

Getting involved is just another way of engaging ourselves in a relationship with God, by utilizing our time and talents to serve Him and others; we transform the world one person at a time.
